Actually, I can't wait for the iPad, it looks really fucking sweet, and at such a low price point, why the hell not? Do you realize how well it would work for coordinating shit at events? Granted, it's just like a laptop, except if you get the program that makes it work like a tablet, then you can draw on your field map and such.

Just seems like a really cool, innovative idea, that will likely change the way laptop things are designed, especially since you can get a 3G unlimited data plan for only $30/month, half of what you would be paying with any other laptop.

Adobe... is so damn lazy, over the past 5 or so years, they haven't come out with anything but moderate updates to their photoshop, and of course the prices to upgrade are ridiculous for any amateur editor, google, well, I can't be mad at them, like Immortal said, competition is part of the game.

Quality isn't expensive. It's Priceless.

Apple had to expect competition at one point. They also had to expect to lose customers with how they attempt to control every aspect of every one of their products. That's why I'll never buy a Mac/Macbook, I hate the layout of the OS and what not. But google dropping a new product right after working with apple, that was a little low.

Apple has one of the best interfaces... no viruses... the *ONLY* downside is that you can't run a ton of video games on them. But honestly, I'm past those days, and if you ever want to do any serious video editing, Mac is the only way to go. Not to mention, their customer service is absolutely amazing.

Guess I'm a fan boy... oh well. All I know is that while windows based PC's are getting sluggish with spy ware and corrupt with viruses, I can let my girlfriend click any link and download any amount of bullshit without fear of my laptop biting the dust.

If the Ipad was like a laptop, I'd buy one in a second, but it's total rubbish. It's just a Ipod Touch with a 9.7 in. screen and the ability to read a select amount of books. With the Ipod touch, the apps are great because it runs fast and is really tiny... with the Ipad, having it run on apps was just useless as hell because who wants to carry around a 7.5 X 9.6 in. square that can only do what their 2.4 X 4.3 Ipod can do?

Basically, it's too big to replace a Phone or MP3 player, too restricted to replace a laptop and too stupid to take too seriously.

It's a good start, because Apple (and everyone else for that matter) knows now that people will only want to buy a tablet like that if it actually has a use in daily life... like having the abilities of a real laptop.

I agree with Immortal completely. If it had some sort of word processor/printer connectivity, I would be all over it instead of a netbook, but I'm very disappointed, all it is is a giant Ipod Touch

OK.... Don't be so fast to bash it.

The touch has a MICROSOFT OFFICE app, Which means WORD, Exvel, etc... Not to expensive either, They also have wireless print apps...

SO, this COULD be used as a laptop, as long as you are willing to put a few bucks into Apps.

Its alot better than an Itouch. But I have been learning about this in my Sustainable classes, and I am against it.

But it is def a cool buy.

Don't compare this to a netbook. That is just not fair. It's much much better than those dinky pieces of crap. Two of my friends own netbooks, possibly the dumbest purchase they could have made. The keys are tiny, there's no processing power, just an overall disappointment.

And, since this does have bluetooth as well as wifi and 3G, I could totally see a program like vonage taking advantage of what it has to offer.

Did I mention the screen is orgasmically beautiful? LED 720p wonderfulness. And the battery life, that's through the freaking roof. It actually makes this the perfect device for school, since it will last all day without have to plug it in during a class (I can only get through 3 classes on my Macbook).

I dunno, I just have a hard on for this one!

I wasn't comparing it to a netbook Tex. I said I would buy it instead of a netbook, if it had a word processor and printer ability, and now I revise that last bit with "without having to fucking pay for it"

I'm not a Mac nor Microsoft Fan boy, however I like products from each.

I do like Microsoft's Silverlight, it's a much better flash then Adobe.

While my main rig is a Win7 based computer, it's main purpose is gaming. However my Asus E3PC (Netbook) is running Ubuntu on a Solid State Drive. It's plenty fast, as for personal devices I run a Zune HD, which supports 720P on it's OLED display.

The iPad is a great idea, some of it's features do hold it back a bit, but for the same price I'd get the MSI's tablet, and load Ubuntu onto it. It'll be plenty fast as it's superior to most OS' I've run.

Well, it appears that Google is not only going to try to take out the iPhone, but they are also going after Twitter. Apparently Gmail is going to start offering "status updates" My guess is it won't be long before they try to take over the social networking era.
