Description
The FAL, short for Fusil Automatique Léger (Light Automatic Rifle), earned the nickname “The Right Arm of the Free World” and was once adopted by over 90 countries. This iconic rifle was a formidable rival to the AK-47/AKM series and was deployed across almost every continent, from the Vietnam War and Rhodesian Bush Wars during the Cold War to contemporary Middle Eastern conflicts in Syria and Iraq.
The VFC FAL (LAR) Standard Type I GBB is a highly authentic reproduction of this legendary rifle and is the first gas blowback version of the FAL. Interestingly, while the FAL is relatively rare as an AEG in airsoft, its contemporaries like the H&K G3, which saw less widespread use in the real world, are more commonly found, with companies like Tokyo Marui and LCT producing numerous AEG versions and Umarex offering gas-powered H&K licensed G3A3 and PSG-1 models.
This VFC LAR adopts the metric variant of the FAL, using meters in its sighting system rather than yards, a feature of the inch-pattern L1A1 rifles used by Britain and the Commonwealth. The design closely mirrors the early Belgian FALs (Model 50.00) and features a robust, metal construction with steel components, including the outer barrel, bolt carrier, and even a carry handle.
The hop-up adjustment is conveniently located at the mock gas block, allowing for easy tweaking, similar to adjusting the gas pressure on the actual FAL. The magazine holds 20 rounds, staying true to the capacity of the original rifle.
